Session of the Month - June 2024

July 7, 2024

So I must apologize… I never got around to doing a session of the month for May. I had every intention of doing one but that first week of June brought school wrapping up and France trip preparations. I was lucky enough to be able to take 18 students to France for two weeks in June. We had a fantastic time!

And what a perfect way to segue into this month’s session of the month. Meet Morgan!

Morgan was one of those 18 students who came to France. This spring, she approached me asking if I’d do her senior photos and, if so, could we do part of them while we were in Paris. Um DUH! It’s always been a bucket list item for me to do a photo shoot in Paris. Even topping that off is the fact that she is a dancer, so we were able to incorporate that as well!

In order to get the best lighting as well as avoid crowds, I told her we’d need to leave the hotel by 5:15 a.m. This also ensured we didn’t impede on the programing of the trip (since it’s technically a school trip). We also had the assistance of another student a year younger than her who dances at the same studio as her. I was thankful she came along because she was able to offer pose pointers as well as hold bags and stuff.

Despite a lot of clouds and/or rain most of the trip, that morning we were greeted with just a few wispy clouds and a gorgeous sunrise. We found a bridge with a gorgeous view of the tower and got to work. Ironically enough, we weren’t the only people taking advantage of that spot on the bridge… there was a couple there in wedding attire! What a coincidence since it was also my wedding anniversary that day. When they finished up their stuff I congratulated them and commented that we’d share a wedding anniversary. It turns out they were renewing their vows for their 10th anniversary, which was the next day. Still pretty neat!

After some shots on the bridge, we made our way down to the banks of the Seine. At this point the sun was getting moderately high in the sky and it was getting warm, but we still managed to get some awesome shots. Major props to Morgan for navigating all this cobblestone with pointe shoes on!

Needless to say, this session was WELL worth getting up at the crack of dawn. I got to check an item off my bucket list and this lovely young lady got some awesome senior pictures that nobody else at her school will likely have!
