Session of the Month - April 2024 — Chelsea May Photography

Is it just me or did I blink and April went by? April is always the fastest slow month of the year for me. The days are long but the month still somehow speeds on by. This past week has been absolute chaos, so I apologize for the delay in posting.

This month’s session highlight is of (quite literally) one of my oldest friends. This mama and I were best friends in elementary school and then drifted apart when I moved away in 5th grade. Thanks to social media, we were able to reconnect, and a few years ago I did my first photo session for her adorable family to commemorate her son’s first birthday!

Since that time, we’ve done sessions pretty regularly, but as her son got into toddlerhood, he REALLY did not like me (no clue why lol). I don’t think we ever got a single photo of him since without him clinging to mama or dada. Now that it was his little sister’s turn for her first birthday session, he finally warmed up to me! He spent a lot of the session being super helpful and super chatty. We even had to commemorate this occasion with a photo of him and his beloved kitty cat.

We were able to make this session even more special for this little lady. The birthday girl’s middle name is Sue, after her grandmother (the mother of my friend) who passed away this past December after a courageous battle with cancer. The theme for her birthday was “you are my sunshine” which is a song Grandma Sue used to sing to them all. We were even able to incorporate a stuffed sunshine that my friend had given to her mom during her cancer journey to help brighten her day.
